"GHF Focuses on What Matters to Youth " - GHF Captains Forum

Over the past year a project migrating all the existing Africa Christian Fellowship youth programs on to one platform was undertaken with Bournemouth as the pilot. This was in order to have all youth programs in one place (common direction) and change the focus of the overall ACF youth program objectives. From this endeavour Africa Christian Fellowship youth is now Gate House Furaha ACF (GHF ACF).

GHF ACF is being developed as a youth resource to recognise diverse avenues of Christian ministry and fellowship that will focus on what matters most to youth in UK and EIRE (& beyond) today in order to provide support to them. The GHF Captains Forum that took place at Little down Liesure Centre in Bournemouth reviewed the year (2007) gone by and looked ahead into 2008.

This year (2008) at Gate House Furaha we would like to have a special focus on our youth community by way of doing the following:

1. Creating and providing access to Christian youth social networks. These networks may be of a local, national or international nature. At GHF this access will be pursued however and wherever the youth choose by using online and event based approaches.

The online net working is administered through Furaha contact program, while the event based would be as indicated in the local City Furaha Calendars. The aim is to provide an environment that would enable young people (teens and adults) to extend the boundaries of their friendship to new friends and explore new experiences with old friends. Furaha Contact has to date 340 registered participants.

2. Creating an opportunity to participate in the Friends of Furaha social network that aims to financially support charitable causes and address the needs of its member participants. GHF hopes this would make it easy for participants to learn to manage money in a Christian way though the Friends of Furaha Fresh Bread Living and giving program. Friends of Furaha social network agenda, also has GHF activities and events in mind.

3. Organising individual based and seminar (group led) training sessions on the Bible and Bible based material over a number of courses offered through the Furaha Bible Academy (FBA). By this GHF hopes to enable young and all other people to develop a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus and promote personal devotion (discipleship) across the GHF community.

4. Maximizing the games, sports and athletic potential of youth and young adults participating in GHF sport locally and nationally. Over the year 2008 there will be tournaments organized for talent identification, development or just for the fun and pleasure of sport. At these sporting events GHF hopes to create positive social effects and Christian based counseling support opportunities open to the local community. GHF wants to promote specific lines of games and sports while focusing on individual success stories and group/team championship competitions.

5. Plan and organise parties and social get together events for GHF participants and invited guests. The purpose of these social meetings will be to within a Christian context locally promote: interaction between diverse individual youth and adults (Christians of different denominations; non Christians; University and collage students, etc). During these socials, GHF seeks to provide and foster the opportunity to learn and enjoy: music, dance, debate, film, art and culture.

Many parties have been held across GHF since it was launched. The first socials have however only been held in Bournemouth organised by PB Furaha Social under the banner Furaha Chill out evenings. These socials have attracted great interest among the youth.

6. Encourage greater involvement of youth and young adult participation in the GHF ACF youth resource ministry. GHF hopes to develop leadership interaction between youth and young adult volunteers of diverse background to meet the challenges of creating and managing the opportunities for Christian fellowship within GHF. The aim of it all will be to assisting youth and all other people to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

This leadership interaction is managed by the GHF Captains Bridge social net work present locally and nationally. At present membership of this Furaha Captains Bridge is 22 strong and growing. In jigsaw fashion the Furaha Captains Bridge locks the other social net works together.

Previously the youth program was operated through a Steering Committee of representatives. Nominations and elections to this committee were collated and put to a vote once annually at the ACF national conference. In the new GHF platform a new system to replace this old system will be soon to be in place. This system is in line with the new ACF nomination and election system. The system is called the GHF Aggregated Decision (GHF AGGD).

The AGGD shall be more than a nomination and election system and include a continuous year round feed back on all GHF events and activities. The purpose is to highlight issues/challenges relating to GHF ministry work; with opportunity for mentor development/progression, contribute to defining a clearer vision of the youth fellowship goals, leadership networking opportunities and individual Christian personal development and Christian service motivational impact.

7. Our Youth community in UK and EIRE is very important to us and at the end of last year GHF launched a youth newsletter the Gate Gist (GG) with 2 issues in circulation. The purpose of GG is for News information, education, entertainment and talent development. GHF this year will continue to improve GG communications online through Furaha Contact and via hard copy distribution. Please look out for the next GG issue.

GHF is now live with diverse exciting events, more fellowship opportunities, more ministry challenges, growing participation base and unlimited information potential.

"PARTNERSHIP IN PRACTICE" - Reading 2020 Forum

Please see the video of ACF presentation stand at the Reading 2020 Event on Tuesday 20th November 07. Gate House Furaha (GHF) participated by invitation of Reading Children's & Voluntary Youth Services. GHF was represented by Mrs. Rebecca Fajebe and Mr. David Muhumuza.

ACF national president Dr Emeka presented other ACF works of service in the UK and Africa, including Africa Relief Appeal Foundation (ARAF) and Acts of ACF in the UK

GHF used the chance to net work, by letting others know what we do at GHF, please see video below.

Scripture says it is God who has made us what we are and given us new lives in Christ Jesus. He planned we spend our lives in helping others..... for we are God's work manship prepared in Christ to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do [Eph 2:10] .

GHF also meet representatives from the various members of the strategic partnership during this event.

The main conference event was attended by all participating members in different ACF groupings including Gate House Furaha Youth.

People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God, as Jesus said it is written 'man shall not live on bread alone but every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Paul in his farewell to the Ephesian elders said 'Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.'

God's gracious word can make you into what he wants you to be and give you everything you could possibly need ... to fulfill your destiny (Conference theme)....only you have a say in this. Don't miss or delay your destiny.

**********Time to Relax***********

Have a look at the pictures taken during seminar interludes. Various recreational activities were conducted individually or corporately including; Barbeques, football, sight seeing walks, various games and relaxing social activities.

A time to rest and relax involved very useful family time opportunity. Where parents attending with their children or close relations spent time away from their regular environment to have a break ('holiday'). It also provided a chance to broaden individual friendship base to new friends and for old ones to catch up on news about each other.

As the scripture says in 1 John 1:7-8 'if we live in the light as God is in the light, we can share fellowship with each other...

God has promised He will fulfil His word in our lifes. .... 'Thou dost show me the path of life; in they presence there is fullness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.'

God wants us to grow up like christ in everything.

Eph 4:11-16 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may he built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds it’s self up in love each part does its work. This is our destiny (conference theme).

Gate House Furaha (Entrance of joy) is the affiliate youth arm (Extension) of the Africa Christian Fellowship (ACF) .

The ACF is a Christian organisation devoted to promoting the spiritual, physical and social well being of its members and the community in the UK & EIRE.

The objective of Gatehouse Furaha is to focus its fraternity on the ultimate Christian destiny of discipleship through nurturing a Christian culture among the youth in the modern times.

MISSION STATEMENTS

To implement this vision, Gate house Furaha shall:

1. Support youth by constructing unique channels of identity and expression within a Christian context as a resource to them in their local areas in the UK & EIRE. Goal 1: Create Gate house Furaha activities: following indicated interests and talent; promoting youth physical and spiritual health; and supporting personal development in a Christian context. Goal 2: Create awareness of Gate house Furaha activities. Goal 3: Increase participation in Gate house Furaha community activities.

2. Promote the Christian gospel message and response to it within the Gate house Furaha fraternity through unique youth channels it will create that positively benefit the local community. Goal 1: Introduce people to the gospel and Support Christian outreach in the community. Goal 2: Promote Christian spiritual growth among Gate house Furaha fraternity partcipants.

3. Motivate the youth to take charge of the direction of their generation with regard to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Goal 1: Develop the youth’s ministry and leadership skills. Goal 2: Promote Christian heritage values passed down in the various cultural backgrounds of the UK, Africa and others, among Gate house Furaha participants. Goal 3: Provide a service of love in the local churches the community and Africa.

4. Support ACF programs and activities in the UK and EIRE; Goal 1: Promote and support affiliate ACF programs.

5. Collaborate with local churches and other Christian organizations for the extension of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Goal 1: Build relationships with Churches and other youth organizations.

6. Act as intermediary between youth and other youth support establishments. Goal 1: Build relationships with government agencies and other youth support establisments.
